A Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy (BSSO) is performed to correct mal-alignment of jaws and teeth. Correcting such irregularities can greatly improve functionality of the bite, speaking, breathing, reduce wear and tear on teeth, and can improve facial aesthetics. The BSSO has evolved into an effective and preferred surgical procedure for mandibular advancement or setbacks.
A BSSO is performed on the lower jaw, the mandible, in order to move it forward in the case of a deficient lower jaw, or backward in the case of a large lower jaw. Surgical incisions are hidden within the mouth, so there is no visible scarring. Our professional and experienced Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons can help you determine if a BSSO procedure is appropriate for you. Treatment results are good, and complications are rare. A successful BSSO improves facial aesthetics, restores function and quality of life, boosts patient self-esteem, and can also improve your oral and dental health.

Le Fort osteotomy is upper jaw surgery that involves repositioning the maxilla, or upper jaw, to correct its abnormal position. By using advanced 3D imaging to assess your specific condition, we can simulate the outcome of proposed surgical plans and adjust any discrepancies before surgery. The 3D technology allows us to create a surgical plan with a level of accuracy not available with traditional imaging technology.
Mandible reduction provides a beautiful jawline by trimming or resecting the lower mandibular bone. When square jaw surgery is performed together with a chin reduction, it can maximize the final appearance.
Mandible Angle Resection can benefit
1. People with a wide jaw
2. People with a square/angled jaw
3. People with minor asymmetry
How is Mandible Angle Resection performed?
An incision is made inside the mouth from the 2nd molar to the canines. The desired shape is trimmed from the back of the jaw to the mental foramen. By removing just the outer layer of the jaw, the width of the face is made slimmer (cortex removal). The amount of trimming depends on the severity of the width.
* Please be aware that all facial bone contouring surgeries are done using oral-incisions under general anesthesia. After a careful CT scan, the doctor will be able to diagnose your condition better and advise you on the most suitable surgical method for you.
